Skills and Experience Required for Technical Project Manager
As Technical Project Manager you must posses these skills and experiences:
- BA or equivalent in vocational training and work-related experience
- 3+ years of experience in an insurance and technical environment
- 3+ years of experience as a project manager managing complex projects in a high-tech development environment with cross-functional teams
- Proven record of implementing software or web development projects successfully using traditional and agile methods
- Sufficient level of technical background to understand and be able to evaluate projects accurately and objectively
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking and team-building skills
- Must have an ability to communicate professionally and confidently with a team at all levels, including senior and executive management, with clear and confident communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and individually
- Experience with the Atlassian suite of applications (Confluence, JIRA)
- Experience working with coding teams in a modern JavaScript and .Net framework
- CSM, PMI-ACP and PMI-PMP required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Powerpoint)
Daily responsibilities
- Manage a pipeline of multiple projects and workflows and ensure teams are working at fully agreed resource allocation levels
- Actively engage in agile project planning and create project plans, timelines and milestones within one or more teams.
- Lead daily scrums, sprint reviews and planning meetings to ensure entire team engagement with a focus on expanding the capabilities of all team members. Manage interdependencies between agile teams.
- Work with Product Owners to support short and long-term release planning and keep the backlog healthy and ready for execution.
- The document coordinates and manages dependencies between teams to keep projects on track.
- Regularly updates management on project status and escalates issues as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
- Assists with required quality assurance activities to ensure successful deliverables
- Develops implementation and rollout plans
- Actively coach team members on continuous improvement, growth mindset and maturing current agile adoption.
- Cultivate a team culture/environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Manage metrics tracking and other resources to assist the team in overall team planning and throughput.
- Track and provide consistent and impactful feedback for agile team development
