The selected candidate will work to develop high-quality software applications that will enable TalkTalk to achieve the deliverables and give excellent service to its customers. A sound technical background in software development, software testing, or solution design, is what we need and are looking to welcome.

You will work with stakeholders to realize and transform business needs. you will provide functional design specifications for use by delivery and operational teams. You will make sure that the functional design meet the business objectives, align with the architectural strategy, and make use of the best available options to so that our software is strong, extensive, and is future oriented.

Providing subject matter expertise on telecoms application platforms you will also work with colleagues throughout the company,as well as with other members of the Delivery team. You will be a technical leader within the department.

Key responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:

  • Translates business needs into a set of functional design specifications for use by delivery as well as operational teams.
  • Find out business requirements and issues, look for opportunities, and come up with the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes within the organization.
  • Create components by proper usage of the right modelling techniques following agreed architectural strategy, design standards, patterns, and methodology. Find and analyze possible design patterns and trade-offs.
  • Develop multiple design layouts to fulfill the needs of the different stakeholders of the architecture and to manage functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Create detailed design specification to be used as basis for construction of systems. Evaluate, substantiate and ameliorate developed designs against specifications. Ensure the design repertory and design artefacts are up to the standards, clear and go to the correct level of detail for usage by the delivery teams.
  • Participate to the development of solution architectures in certain business, infrastructure, or functional areas. Facilitate a change program or project by developing technical plans and application of design principles that are in accordance with the enterprise and solution architecture standards.
  • Look over the corporate data needs. Apply data analytics, design, modelling, and quality assurance techniques, to ascertain, change or retain data structures. Be the advisor and offer guidance to database designers and others associated with the data structures and related components.
  • Works hand to hand with the development teams within a array of deliverables to ensure that the implementation is up to the mark, as per the original design and is of the right quality.
  • Work diligently across different technological stacks, suggesting new ideas, tools and practices that may benefit TalkTalk whenever needed.
  • Take lead in best practice adoption and development in our software architecture and design principles. Be innovative, take initiatives in technical debt removal, automation, and procedural improvements.
  • Mentor, guide, coach, and support everyone within the team in order to meet our deadlines. Inspire our people by sharing knowledge, and be successful as a team. Take ownership of problems and have the ability to solve them.
  • Follow all documented processes both technical and non-technical and ensure our work recording and tracking systems are updated appropriately and accurately.
  • Participate in planning of the project, identify requirements alone or with the rest of the team.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement and communications plan. Collect data, use feedback from customers and stakeholders to make the process more effective. Identify risks and issues and successfully manage and resolve them.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a technical background in either software development, software testing or solution design.
