We are looking for a remote software developer to join our information technology team in Montreal, Canada. The ideal candidate will demonstrate our core skills and uphold our core values.

The software developer will collaborate with other programmers to design, create, and support a new virtual production pipeline based on motion capture and game engine technology, with connectors to the tool sets and workflows already used in the pipeline for feature films. Work with artists from many disciplines, you will also provide technical guidance and develop fixes for production issues and ineffective workflows.

The main tools are Unreal Engine, Maya, C, and Python in Linux and Windows, but you’ll always be exposed to new products, procedures, and tools. As a result, you will need to venture into uncharted waters and pick up new skills.

Responsibilities:

• Offer assistance to artists and supervisors, and swiftly address problems.

• Identify requirements and provide tools that boost an artist’s productivity.

• Create and maintain scripts, tools, and libraries for pipelines and inside applications.

• Develop tutorials and documentation for tools and processes that are user-friendly.

• Showcase tools and workflows to the pipeline team and to the artists.

• Create test cases, technical requirements, and documentation for the tools you create.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, computer engineering, or a related subject.

• At least five years of experience working as a professional assistant of artist on a game, film, or television production.

• 2 years or more of Unreal Engine development experience.

• Knowledge of code review and collaborative development procedures.

• Outstanding Linux, Windows, and Python skills.

• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Comprehensive knowledge of game, CG, or VFX production pipelines

• Expertise in and practical experience with source code management tools like Perforce or Git

• The capacity to work in a hectic manufacturing setting.

Why Building custom versions of Unity is handy and advantageous.

• It would be advantageous to have knowledge of any of Maya, Houdini, Mari, Substance, Nuke, Shotgun, or track.

• Knowledge of motion capture applications, procedures, or data.
