Job Description of Site Engineer Trainee

Site Engineer Trainee role:

Our traineeship prepares you for two telecommunications field services positions: Rigger and Technician.

  • As a rigger, you’ll carefully lift, install, join and remove communications tools (e.g. radio and antennas ), steelwork, and cables at height. 

To succeed in this part of the role, you’ll need to be physically fit, an expertise-on problem solver, and comfortable working at heights up to 60 metres above the ground.

  • As a tech, you’ll install, structure, test, and troubleshoot radio and transmission networks, power systems, and site alarms to ensure each site is fully upgraded and working as featured. To succeed in this part of the role, you’ll need technical potential, an interest in technology, a complete focus on detail, and logical and structured access to problem-solving.

As our ideal candidate, you will have the following:

  • Year 12 certificate; Certificates in electronics or TAFE, IT, or networking are preferred.
  • Driver’s licence, as this job needs frequent travel.
  • A clear police record (you’ll be required to state and national police checks).
  • Flexible regarding working hours (days, nights, and weekends); you can work away from home for 1-2 weeks.
  • Strong IT and computer skills, a positive communicator, Collaborate in a team and has an excellent work ethic.
  • Loads of initiative, able to administer yourself, and can work independently, self-organized.
