The Wikimedia Foundation is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team, reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will create and implement the long-term engineering strategy in collaboration with the product team. You must be confident enough to contribute appropriately to the high-impact challenges behind innovating, building, and maintaining Wikipedia’s data feeds for high-volume reusers.

RESPONSIBILITIES-SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
- You will bring your creativity to bring improvements to our current infrastructure
- You will be a crucial part of planning our future technical roadmap
- Manage and improve the reliability of highly used commercial data feeds
- Must support new code/feature deployments
- Handle troubleshooting, debugging, and following up on emerging issues in our application stack and its surroundings
- Provide help in the architectural design of new services and making them operate at scale
- You have to share our values and work in accordance with them

REQUIREMENTS
- Must have 3+ years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role as part of a team
- Professional experience in supporting complex web applications running on Amazon Web Services
- Working experience with Kafka and with Nodejs and Go applications
- Can handle configuration management and orchestration tools (ECS, Kubernetes), and modern observability infrastructure (monitoring, metrics, and logging)
- Aptitude for automation and streamlining of tasks
- Know shell and scripting languages used in an SRE/Operations engineering context (e.g., Python, Go, Bash, Ruby, etc.)
- superb understanding of Linux/Unix fundamentals and debugging skills
- Excellent English language skills and ability to work independently
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent in related work experience
