Data Science at Philo

As a member of our Data Science team, you’ll work on various exciting projects related to engagement, retention, experimentation, and content discoverability across our streaming service.

Qualifications

Philo is looking for a talented Senior Product Data Scientist who is proficient in statistical modeling, A/B/n experimentation, and SQL and has experience delivering independent data insights.
The victorious candidate will have the chance to utilize diverse structured, unstructured, transactional, and real-time data sets to evaluate customer behavior patterns, analyze financial data, and make data-driven recommendations to various teams, including product, engineering, marketing, and business development.
As a Senior Product Data Scientist, you will support the entire product development process, from conceptualization and opportunity assessment to experiment design, measurement, causal analysis, and post-launch evaluation.
You will also provide leadership and mentorship to the Data team, whether as an individual contributor or a people manager.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Product Data Scientist, you have to fulfill the following responsibilities:

1. Develop a comprehensive understanding of how subscribers use Philo across all streaming platforms, including identifying pain points and opportunities for new features.
2. Responsible for analytics and tracking plans for multiple development work streams, from metric definition and data instrumentation design to ongoing reporting and research.
3. Continuously improve experimentation methods and establish best practices for A/B/n experiments.
4. Create and maintain curated dashboards to evaluate the performance of product features.
5. Use Mode dashboards and other visualizations to present insights to stakeholders and answer ad-hoc product questions.
6. Analyze user flows, behaviors, and long-term trends to identify opportunities for new features.
7. Manage analytics projects end-to-end, proactively identify issues and opportunities, test hypotheses, and propose solutions.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, support, advertising operations) on KPIs, including lifetime value, retention, win-back, and content consumption metrics.

Key Qualifications

To get the Senior Product Data Scientist following criteria must be fulfilled.

1. 10+ years of experience in a Data Science role
2. Demonstrated ability to influence product roadmaps and business decisions with data
3. Proven expertise in experimental design (including but not limited to A/B testing), principles of causal inference, and statistical techniques
4. Strong analytics fundamentals – a degree in statistics, economics, a related field, or similar professional experience
5. Expert with statistical analysis in either R or Python
6. Experience with relational databases and SQL
7. Experience in writing production-quality code in R/Python, productionizing data models and statistical models with tools such as Git, Sagemaker, and debt, and using software engineering best practices around version control, review, and automated testing
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain and present analytical methodology and results to non-technical audiences
