The Senior ITDesktop Systems Engineer candidate is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting complex desktop applications, operating systems, and components with minimal supervision. The Engineer is expected to manage multiple projects and upgrades concurrently and deliver within established guidelines and costs utilizing internal and external resources.
The responsibilities are managing and supporting all desktop enterprise solutions for operating systems, standard desktop imaging, patch management, antivirus, and software distribution. The Senior Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing basic technology standards for end users.
Basic job functions for Senior IT Desktop Systems Engineer
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and supporting business processing requirements.
Performs software installation and upgrades operating systems and layered software packages using efficient distribution tools.
Plans installations and upgrades and maintains compliance with established IS policies and procedures.
Manages desktop and handheld antivirus and antispyware tools and console.
Creates and maintains standard hardware images.
Ensures workstation performance and reliability by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions and tools.
Responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate hardware and desktop standards that meet business needs.
Develops and supports standard operating procedures for end-user environments.
It supports its software systems by working closely with key suppliers.
Performs routine hardware and software audits of workstations to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Mentors are less experienced support staff and peers.
Assists when needed and ensures timely resolution and fulfilment of all established SLAs.\
Qualifications for Senior IT Desktop Systems Engineer
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent specialized training/experience.
Six years of field or desktop engineering experience is required.
Server engineering or training preferred.
A good understanding and knowledge of networking/distributed computing environment concepts are required.
MCA or MCSE certification from an accredited facility is preferred.
Macintosh support experience preferred.
Experience with a help tracking system is a plus.
We require excellent organizational skills with an emphasis on detail and thoroughness.
Independent problem solver. Sorts problems and performs a comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
The ability to deliver services effectively in a high-volume environment is required.
Technical skills:
Experience managing Active Directory policies are required.
Extensive knowledge of PC operating systems and registry management is needed.
A comprehensive understanding of Macintosh operating systems and embedded applications is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of PC hardware, software, operating systems, directory services, printing, and required applications.
Wireless device management experience is required.
Comprehensive experience analyzing complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical, and appropriate solutions.
Must be efficient in Practical time management skills with the ability to complete projects and day-to-day duties promptly and efficiently within established PMO procedures.
Experience with software distribution systems is required.
Experience with antivirus management and troubleshooting consoles is required.
Experience with an antispyware solution is an advantage.
Experience with hardware and software design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting is required.
24 x 7 x 365 support requirements. Ability to work after hours and on weekends as needed.
Skill in problem analysis. Pays great attention to detail. Being able to solve problems ultimately is required.
Ability to work in a team environment or independently. Independent problem solving; own orientation required.
