Senior Group Public Affairs Manager / Salary c. £60,000 for national locations
This is an excellent opportunity for a public affairs professional, who has a deep understanding of UK regional politics (i.e. local/joint authorities and government agencies) and a strong commercial background, leading UK companies in our Group Public To join one of the financial services providers. Affairs, Levelling Up and Investment Team. We are looking for someone who can think creatively as well as identify commercial opportunities, ensuring Aviva maximises its investment opportunities and meets key public policy needs. .
A little about the job:
You will play an active role in shaping the policy environment in which Aviva operates, helping our investment business make the right decisions. You will be a trusted advisor internally, facilitating the right conversations and creating the best campaigns and strategies for our brand, as well as acting as a trusted ambassador externally, Will regularly attend face-to-face meetings and events, building strong working relationships with Key. Aviva introduced “Smart Working” in 2020 and encouraged flexible working. However, due to the nature of the role, the selected incumbent will be expected to travel across the UK to attend meetings and events, as well as regularly travelling to our London head office. You also need to be within commuting distance of our York offices.

Skills and experience we are looking for:
A deep understanding and experience of UK regional politics (ie local/joint authorities and government agencies), as well as prior work experience in a public affairs focused role – this can be from either the private or public sector.
Strong influencing, negotiation, relationship building and networking skills, meaning you should be comfortable working with senior executives, politicians and policy makers.
Understanding different business needs and where capital and investment sources can be found.
An understanding of key relevant central government policy drivers (ie, equalisation, devolution, net zero, patient capital and the UK Investment Agenda).
Excellent written communication skills, matched with a collaborative working team (ie, be a true team player!).
