The incumbent is a technical lead responsible for the design, development, and validation of applications required to integrate data from Concordia’s information systems (Students, Human Resources, Faculty, Finance, and other information systems) and the required transformations to make it available for data visualization (dashboard and artificial intelligence) and other institutional use, reporting to the IT Director Architecture and Project Portfolio Management. To deploy analytics solutions, the incumbent will work with the Institutional Data Team and engage with several University partners (e.g., human resources, finance, facilities, academic, faculties, research, and advancement) as well as the data governance committee.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Data profiling entails investigating and analyzing data-related difficulties, both technical and functional, in light of analytical needs.
• Participate in and/or lead workshops with data modellers and business analysts.
• Create queries that match your business and reporting needs.
• Ensure that the mapping specifications are followe.
• Create and maintain an appropriate data pipeline architecture, such as evaluating and proposing the best ETL strategy based on the data model and report requirements.
• Optimize the logic for data extraction and transformation and translate it into development deliverables.
• Ascertain that the ETL architecture and deliverables follow the defined security model and are capable of meeting the reporting/use case requirements while remaining optimal.
• Supervise and coordinate ETL implementation development activities.
• In the context of the platform architecture, address and suggest solutions to ETL concerns.
• Maintain communication between the data modeller, ETL, and Tabular model/Report creation teams.
• Ensure the ETL scripts in production are operationally efficient, stable, and monitored.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 to 7 years of similar experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, business administration, or a related subject.
• Working knowledge of the ETL platform, SQL, data warehouses, and data marts is essential.
• Expertise in data modelling (logical and physical design), including dimensional, relational, data warehouse, and hierarchical data models.
• Ability to work well with other professionals in IT and departments, as well as leadership qualities.
• Good spoken and written English (Level 4) and basic spoken French (Level 3) understanding.
• Problem-solver with excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently, initiative, and good organisational abilities are all desirable qualities.
• Strong leadership and a strong commitment to customer service.
• Works on many projects at the same time while juggling competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of Power BI, data modelling software, and data visualisation techniques is require.
• Experience with the types of data that the university manages
• End-user tools and platforms for data analytics, reporting, and data visualisation should be familiar.
• Knowledge of advanced analytics and AI concepts, techniques, and technology in general.
