Responsibilities of Network Support Technician

Network Support Technician
  • Support, compensate, and manage the use of local area networks (LANs), broad area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations, and peripheral instruments.
  • Analyze and install computer hardware, networking software, and functioning system software.
  • Operate master consoles to analyze the performance of computer systems and networks and coordinate the approach and use of computer networks.
  • Load computer disks and tapes and install printer paper and software and forms.
  • Deliver problem-solving services to network users.
  • Apply data, software, and hardware security procedures.
  • Operate routine network start-up and close down and support control records.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery functions.
  • Install, support, design, and upgrade Web-server hardware and software.
  • Set up connections to the Internet and Local area networks.
  • Use network traffic and security inspecting software, and optimize server performance.
  • Modify Web pages, scripts, and applets.
  • Answer requests for help and information from Website designers and visitors.
  • Operate Web-server backup and recovery functions.
