Responsibilities of Network Support Technician
- Support, compensate, and manage the use of local area networks (LANs), broad area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations, and peripheral instruments.
- Analyze and install computer hardware, networking software, and functioning system software.
- Operate master consoles to analyze the performance of computer systems and networks and coordinate the approach and use of computer networks.
- Load computer disks and tapes and install printer paper and software and forms.
- Deliver problem-solving services to network users.
- Apply data, software, and hardware security procedures.
- Operate routine network start-up and close down and support control records.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery functions.
- Install, support, design, and upgrade Web-server hardware and software.
- Set up connections to the Internet and Local area networks.
- Use network traffic and security inspecting software, and optimize server performance.
- Modify Web pages, scripts, and applets.
- Answer requests for help and information from Website designers and visitors.
- Operate Web-server backup and recovery functions.
