Position Summary
Yahoo is searching for a skilled Deals Writer with a passion for discovering amazing deals in the home, style, and beauty categories to join their commerce team.
The ideal candidate will be able to craft compelling content that speaks to a diverse audience while keeping up with the fast-paced nature of the industry.
From finding the best deals and sales daily to covering major shopping events like Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, the writer will be responsible for delivering top-notch content.
Having a great sense of humor and the capacity to generate snappy articles, up-to-the-minute trend pieces, and entertaining personal stories is a fundamental requirement.
Digital content experience is a requirement, and previous commerce-writing experience would be a significant advantage as a Deals Writer.
Responsibilities
As a Deals Writer, you should have the following responsibilities:
- Pitch, write, and update deals content under the guidance of the Senior Editor, Commerce.
- Utilize expertise to become the team’s go-to deals expert across various categories.
- Produce numerous high-quality deals articles daily and optimize them for SEO, engagement, and revenue.
- Identify daily deals and shopping trends to generate valuable content.
- Collaborate with other writers and editors in the Yahoo commerce team.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for developing story ideas and topics.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying deadlines.
Qualifications
Being a Deals Writer, we require the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in writing and editing commerce content, with an understanding and appreciation of online shopping, internet trends, and culture
- Expertise in style, beauty, and home shopping trends at an advanced level
- Ability to write and edit various content types, from voice-y, first-person stories to in-depth, researched, and reported SEO stories.
- Availability to work on weekends and holidays if required.
- Strong understanding of SEO and proven ability to optimize content effectively
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines, with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, and a talent for crafting click-worthy headlines
- Excellent copy editing skills, with experience working in a CMS
- Self-motivated, able to work well with others as well as independently
- Demonstrated agility and ability to adapt quickly to trends, news cycles, and a constantly changing work environment
- High level of motivation, curiosity, and self-starting attitude
- Extremely organized, with a talent for generating ideas and spotting trends
- Bachelor’s degree required
