 It is a tier-one global automotive supplier for the Global Security Office, an automotive industry where customers are focusing on developing electric, autonomous and connected vehicles. The threat of cyber security is also on the rise and as a result the need to adhere to cyber security regulations and standards has never been more important for the automotive industry. 

Overview:

 An exciting opportunity is now available in the automotive industry, where consumers are focusing on developing electric, autonomous and connected vehicles.

 Primary responsibilities include: 

Cyber Security Apprentice will work within the GKN Automotive GSO Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) function and will receive time and support to complete a Level 6 Cyber ​​Security Degree Apprenticeship as part of the role. This role involves working with the business to implement core security risk management, remediation and compliance principles in accordance with GSO security policy and procedures and industry standards.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work within the GRC function in the areas of risk management, internal audit, ISMS compliance, IS training and awareness, and supply chain assurance. There is also opportunity to work with personnel and physical security SMEs and security operations and architecture SMEs. 

Desired Skills and Attributes: 

The candidate is expected to have knowledge and experience of GRC activities including risk management. They are also expected to have a strong technical knowledge and experience as a foundation. The candidate must be a self-starter and possess excellent communication skills as they are expected to present to various stakeholders and work with training and awareness leadership to deliver training worldwide. 

  Some international travel is also required. An excellent awareness of IT security technology, and an understanding of networks and technical systems including best practices Cloud technology Knowledge/experience in security incident management and forensic processes Knowledge/experience in security vulnerability and patch management and pen testing Experience in conducting security risk assessments Knowledge/experience in deploying technical controls and risk mitigations Demonstrated ability to self-learn and advance technical skills outside of study Demonstrate innovative thinking and strong problem-solving skills . Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with a variety of people Show evidence of working in teams and leadership.

 Necessary:

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Must have at least 1 year of experience in a cyber security related role. 

Entry Requirements: 

120 UCAS points EPA apprentices must achieve GCSE maths and English at grade C to attempt through A Level or equivalent – you can still enter the program but by starting Gateway and EPA Evidence of Level 2 Maths and English proficiency must be provided first. 

Non-standard entry requirements

Applicants who can demonstrate their ability to benefit from the program in other ways, particularly mature students without formal qualifications, will always be considered and will be contacted by the program leader to discuss their application. will be invited to contact The University welcomes applications from students studying qualifications from different qualification types – for example a combination of A Level and BTEC qualifications, and if you are offered the UCAS tariff from all these qualifications. You will be asked to earn points for the level you are studying at. 3.

A good GCSE profile is expected with English language and maths at a minimum grade C (or equivalent recognized by the university). Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths must achieve this before taking the endpoint assessment. If you have studied for a new GCSE for which you have achieved a numerical grade you will need to achieve at least grade 4. 

Informal interviews

Where informal interviews will take place. Candidate’s eligibility is doubtful and further evidence is called for. The candidate presents an exceptional set of taken or pending qualifications, and a suitable conditional offer needs to be determined. End point assessment 

You must be able to provide evidence of Level 2 English and Maths before starting your endpoint assessment. You can still start the program without them but qualification is required to start EPA.

 Work week: 

37 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Working hours to be confirmed after the interview.

Salary:

 £25,000 per annum. 

Future Prospects: 

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the individual may obtain a full-time position with the organisation.

QA apprenticeships are funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government Funded Apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years.
