The Durham District School Board (DDSB) has outlined its strategic priorities in its “Ignite Learning” campaign, which include Success, Well-Being, Leadership, Equity, Engagement, and Innovation. This is a fantastic chance for the Application Developer to make a significant contribution to these initiatives.
You will interpret client requirements and incorporate them into new application features as an Application Developer, ensuring high-level integrated solutions through good application design by first liaising with clients to understand their needs. This is a highly collaborative role in which you will collaborate closely with other developers and IT staff to brainstorm new application specifications, develop new ideas, select the appropriate development environment and technology, as well as set specifications for new applications and write high-quality code to programme applications on time.
You will design processes to ensure data integrity across all systems (software, departments), design creative prototypes per specifications, and create test cases to perform unit testing and quality assurance before releasing code into production as an analytical thinker with in-depth knowledge of programming for diverse operating systems and platforms using development tools.
We’ll also rely on you to assess and debug current programmes, re-program, update, and add new features as needed, as well as assess software patch updates and their effects on the backend data store or processes. This role requires you to manage documentation, and you will be contributing to the knowledge base and documentation repository by creating technical documents and handbooks that will not only assist users but also make it easier for other engineers to perform their duties.
Qualifications:
As a qualified Application Developer, you will have the following skills:
- Completion of a comparable undergraduate university degree or a combination of education, training, and experience judged equal.
- A minimum of three years of application development experience is require.
- Capacity for analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Programming skills in at least two programming languages.
- Software design and programming fundamentals can easily able to understand.
- Programming skills for a variety of operating systems and platforms using development tools.
- Ability to work well with people and communicate effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of designing and developing applications for large organizations.
ASSET:
- Extensive knowledge of student information systems.
Annual Salary Range: $72,674 – $85,029
The Durham District School Board (DDSB) is in charge of public education in Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, and Oshawa, as well as in rural Uxbridge, Brock, and Scugog Townships. The DDSB serves almost 74,000 students throughout 134 elementary and secondary schools, as well as thousands more who enrol in a range of continuing education and adult credit courses.
